How often should I get my teeth cleaned at the dentist?

That varies from person to person depending on the severity of your periodontal condition and the rate that difficult-to-clean debris builds up on your teeth.  Typical intervals between cleaning appointments are 3, 4, and 6 months.  Six months is advised when the goal of cleaning is prevention of periodontal disease.  Since the majority of adults do have active periodontal disease, by the statistics most adults should have cleanings every 3 or 4 months.
