What is the best age for a child to get braces?

That varies depending on the situation.  First we determine the nature and extent of their problem (malocclusion).  Some orthodontic problems can be treated at any age (Dr. Knox got braces at age 33!).  At the other end of the spectrum, some orthodontic problems are best addressed before the onset of puberty.  For those situations where early evaluation is ideal, we often initiate consultation with an orthodontist around the age of 9.
