Dr. Knox is a native of the Puget Sound region, born and raised in the Bremerton area, where he graduated from Central Kitsap High School in 1976 as class valedictorian. He received a Bachelor of Science degree with honors from Pacific Lutheran University in 1980, and was listed in the 1980 "Who's Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities". His Doctor of Dental Surgery degree was awarded from the University of Washington School of Dentistry in 1984. After graduation he returned to the Parkland - Spanaway area, where he associated with Dr. Chris Nyvall until opening his own practice in its current location in 1987.
Dr. Knox is a member of the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, the Washington State Dental Association, the Pierce County Dental Society, the Puyallup Valley Dental Study Group, and the Christian Dental Society. He has been a member of the advisory committee to the dental assistant training program at Clover Park Technical College since 1987, currently serving as chairperson. He is also a member of the advisory committee for the dental hygienist program at Pierce College. Dr. Knox and his wife, Julie, have three children and one granddaughter (don't get him started). They are members of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Tacoma, and belong to the Tacoma Power Squadron and the Tacoma Yacht Club. Julie currently serves as a volunteer at the Puyallup Food Bank, and is a part-time fitness instructor at the Korum South Hill YMCA.
